You’re not looking for a coach who counts reps — you’re looking for one who can explain exactly why the adjustment works and prove it with physics.

Most baseball hitting lessons in Fresno focus on feel — “stay back,” “keep your hands up,” “drive through the ball.” At HittingPerformanceLab.com, every adjustment is grounded in physics, biomechanics, and engineering principles. You’ll know why it works before you ever pick up a bat. The result is a hitter who doesn’t fall apart under game pressure, because the adjustment is wired into their movement pattern — not just a tip they’re trying to remember in the box.
These lessons run at the batting cages at Clovis West High School on weekends and select weekday evenings. Sessions are 75 minutes, cover hitting mechanics, pitch recognition, and swing adjustments, and serve both baseball and softball players ages 11 and up. Call or text 559-709-5808 to book.

What makes these Fresno hitting lessons different from typical cage work?
These are science-based hitting lessons. Specifically, every mechanical adjustment taught here is validated by physics, biomechanics, and engineering research — the same framework documented across 400+ posts at HittingPerformanceLab.com. In particular, the instruction draws from research-backed swing mechanics experiments and a decade of feedback from coaches and players at every level. The difference between this and most local instruction is explainability — you will understand exactly what your body is doing, why it’s producing the result it’s producing, and what specifically needs to change.
Three areas are covered in every session. First, hitting mechanics — the movement patterns that produce consistent, hard contact, validated against how the best hitters in history actually swung the bat. Second, pattern recognition — the pitch-reading and hitting strategies that turn mechanical improvements into game-ready decisions at the plate. Third, swing adjustments — specific, targeted changes to what the hitter is already doing, with an explanation of the physics behind each one. The goal is always a game-ready hitter, not one who swings beautifully in the cage but freezes on a 1-2 changeup.
Both baseball and softball players welcome. The same mechanical principles — ground reaction force, hip-to-shoulder separation, rotational sequencing — apply across both sports. Joey works with baseball and softball players at the youth, high school, and college level, and the instruction is calibrated to the specific demands of each sport and each hitter’s existing pattern.
What session types and pricing are available for hitting lessons in Fresno?
All sessions are 75 minutes. A 15-minute science-based warmup is built into that time — not added on top. Four session formats are available:
One-on-One
$100
per session
Full 75-minute session dedicated to one hitter. Maximum individual attention and fastest adjustment cycle. Available Saturdays and Sundays after group sessions.
Dual (2-on-1)
$75
per hitter
Two hitters, one coach. Rest time between swings lets adjustments settle — a natural teaching rhythm that works well for players at a similar skill level. Available Saturdays and Sundays.
Group (3–6)
$30–$45
per hitter
3–4 hitters: $45/hitter. 5–6 hitters: $30/hitter. Groups run Sundays at 7:45am and 9:00am. Great for teammates or players who train together regularly.
All prices are per hitter per session. The 15-minute warmup is included in the 75-minute session time.

Group sessions run Sundays at 7:45am and 9:00am. One-on-ones and duals are scheduled Saturdays and Sundays after the group time slots. Additionally, some weekday evening slots are available — timing shifts later in summer to get under the heat. In winter months, weekday evening lessons are weather-dependent since the batting cage at Clovis West does not have lights.
Who are these baseball and softball hitting lessons designed for?
These lessons are designed for baseball and softball hitters ages 11 and up who want to understand their swing — not just execute it on command. The instruction is the same across both sports because the mechanical principles are the same: ground reaction force, rotational sequencing, lead-side connection, and hip-to-shoulder separation apply whether you’re hitting a 90-mph fastball or a riseball at 65 mph. For softball players specifically, the same softball hitting power principles covered in depth at HPL apply directly in-session. Most current students are middle school, high school, and college-age players from the Fresno and Clovis area.
Younger players (under 11) are considered on a case-by-case basis. The key criteria are focus, discipline, and the ability to listen to instruction and apply it — not age or skill level. For reference, the hitting drills for Little League players documented at HPL give a sense of the progression approach used in lessons. A disciplined 9-year-old will get more out of a session than an unfocused 13-year-old. If you have a younger player and you’re unsure, reach out and we can talk through it.
What Coaches & Parents Are Saying
Verified reviews of The Catapult Loading System — the book behind these lessons
“Myers is way out front. I’ve studied hitting and coached at the D1 level — this approach blew me away with what I wasn’t seeing even though it was right in front of my face. It’s like going from ‘the earth is flat’ to ‘the earth is round.’”
Dr. Tom Hanson — D1 baseball coach · Author, Heads-Up Baseball · ★★★★★
“I love the real science approach to hitting — not just trusting what someone says because they’ve been around a long time. I started working with my son and I can already see the improvement in his body movement when executed properly. I’m also hearing it from his coaches.”
Stephen B. — Baseball parent · Verified Amazon purchase · ★★★★★
“What Myers provides better than anyone else is the biophysical basis of his technique. He’s given me ways of talking to hitters that make sense to the players — and I’ve even generated my own alternative phrasing for some of my more ‘difficult’ hitters.”
A. Prudy — Hitting coach · Verified Amazon purchase · ★★★★★
“Joey is one of the few who actually does explain how the body swings a bat. Many claim to know how the body works to swing a bat — Joey is one of the few who actually does. The book stands by itself explaining the spinal engine and fascia system.”

Frequently Asked Questions — Baseball & Softball Hitting Lessons in Fresno
Where exactly do baseball hitting lessons in Fresno take place?
In short, lessons are held at the batting cages at Clovis West High School on the Teague Street side, near the tennis courts, handball courts, and varsity softball field in Clovis, CA. Parking on Teague Street is straightforward. The gate is typically open, but if it is locked on arrival, text 559-709-5808 and it will be opened. This location is approximately 15 minutes from central Fresno.
How much do hitting lessons cost in the Fresno area?
Pricing depends on session format. One-on-one sessions are $100 per session. Dual sessions (two hitters with one coach) are $75 per hitter. Group sessions with 3–4 hitters are $45 per hitter, and groups of 5–6 hitters are $30 per hitter. All sessions are 75 minutes and include a 15-minute science-based warmup within that time. There are no additional fees.
What ages do you work with for hitting lessons?
The standard age range is 11 and up for both baseball and softball players. However, younger players are considered on a case-by-case basis. The key factors are focus, discipline, and the ability to listen and apply instruction. A focused 9-year-old will make faster progress than an unfocused 13-year-old. If you have a younger player you’re wondering about, reach out to 559-709-5808 and we can discuss it.
What is the difference between a one-on-one, a dual, and a group hitting session?
A one-on-one session ($100) is the full 75 minutes dedicated entirely to one hitter. It produces the fastest individual adjustment cycle. A dual session ($75/hitter) puts two hitters in the cage with one coach — the natural rest between rounds allows adjustments to settle and often helps players learn by watching each other’s corrections. Group sessions ($30–$45/hitter) accommodate 3–6 hitters and run on Sundays at 7:45am and 9:00am. One-on-ones and duals are scheduled Saturdays and Sundays, primarily after group sessions.
Do you offer softball hitting lessons in Fresno as well as baseball?
Yes. Both baseball and softball players are welcome, and the same science-based mechanical principles apply to both sports. Ground reaction force, rotational sequencing, and lead-side connection produce hard contact whether you’re facing a curveball or a drop-ball. The instruction is calibrated to the pitch timing, stance, and swing path demands specific to each sport. Many current Fresno-area students are fastpitch softball players at the high school and club level.
What does it mean to build a “game-ready hitter” — and why does that matter?
A game-ready hitter is one whose mechanical improvements hold up at game speed, under game pressure, against pitching they haven’t seen before. Specifically, the difference is whether the adjustment is wired into the movement pattern or just a conscious thought the hitter is trying to hold onto in the box. These lessons focus on ingraining mechanical changes through understanding of the physics behind them — because a hitter who understands why a movement produces power will default to that movement under pressure instead of reverting to old habits. Pattern recognition and hitting strategy are also covered so the mechanics connect to real game decisions.
How do I book a baseball or softball hitting lesson in the Fresno area?
Call or text 559-709-5808 — or text the word LESSONS to 559-709-5808 — to check availability and schedule.
